Frequently Asked Questions
❓How do you light the wood stove?
First, bring a few logs inside and let them dry a bit — dry wood burns better. We use the top-down fire method : YouTube. video
One absolute rule: the stove door must remain closed at all times.
❓ How do you use the projector?
Order matters!
Turn on the projector first to see where the beam lands
Then lower the screen slowly — and never all the way down, or the beam will go underneath
HBO, Disney+, and Prime Video are included. YouTube also works.
❓ How do you use the sauna?
We’ve prepared a video explaining everything: [lien vidéo à intégrer]
❓ The dryer : anything to know?
Yes! Check the water tank and empty it if needed, otherwise the dryer will stop mid-cycle.
❓ What shouldn’t go in the dishwasher?
No wooden utensils and no non-stick cookware — the dishwasher damages both.
Please wash them by hand, thank you!
🦡 Wildlife — Welcome to Real Nature
We live in the mountains. In an old house. Surrounded by forests and grazing animals. So let’s be honest: you won’t be alone.
🪰 Flies: In season, with livestock nearby, there will be flies.
That’s the price to pay for hearing cowbells… and honestly, it’s worth it. Close the windows during warm hours and use adhesive strips if needed.
They’re harmless, just… sociable.
🦟 Mosquitoes: Actually quite rare. But if you meet some, try to don’t feed them too much.
🐭 Mice: It’s the mountains, in an old house, so yes, sometimes.
If you notice signs, let us know and Manu will quickly reset traps.
🦔 Moles: They’ve turned the garden into their personal amusement park.
We’d love for them to leave. Please don’t encourage them.
🦡 Badgers: If you wake up to mysterious tracks in the garden — that’s them. Discreet, but not subtle.
🐗 Wild boars: No joking. Every year, the same family comes back to create a nice mud bath at the back of the garden. We almost know them by name.
🦌 Deers: They’ve figured out that the fruit trees are an all-you-can-eat buffet. Hard to blame them.
In short: wildlife is very much present and that’s how we like it.
We live alongside it, respectfully. We’ll let you discover it for yourself.
For those who need reassurance: compared to our home in Canada, this is very calm.
Over there, we deal with:
bears eating our garbage
cougars hunting dogs
eagles visiting the chicken coop
prairie dogs as far as the eye can see
And more!
